Catherine Kerr (Violin, Piano)
Scottish born and educated, Cathy's musical experience began when she was eleven, first with violin and then viola - piano and classical guitar followed in later years.
Cathy has played in orchestras in Scotland, England and Australia, continually from the age of fourteen. In recent years Cathy has played with the Kur-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra for some ten years. She belongs to the Maggini String Ensemble which performs at weddings / functions etc, She has also tutored children's string groups.
Cathy holds an Associate of Trinity college London Teachers Diploma which involved Theory of Music at Associate level and she is a member o fthe Music Teacher's Association Australia.
Cathy taught at Mudgee Primary School for a number of years and privately in Sydney until she moved to the Southern Highlands. Here she belongs to the Highlands Symphonia and regularly plays for pleasure with colleagues in quartets and in various musicals etc. She has been teaching at Powerpoint Music studios for two years.
Cathy teaches Suzuki and Traditional methods, prepares students for examinations in practical and theory subjects, and encourages children through to adults to participate in musical experiences for pleasure or serious study.
