Phil has been teaching at Powerpoint music for 25 years. He is a qualified primary classroom teacher and has a Master’s Degree in music. He is a multi-instrumentalist, teaching guitar, bass, mandolin and ukulele.
Phil, aka PAV, is a very experienced musician. He was a member of Tiara award nominated country rock band COWPOKE who released two albums in the early 2000's. He currently plays with pub-rock legends THE URBAN GUERILLAS and has also, in the past, gigged with THE BONDI CIGARS.
Several of Phil’s songs have been published in the prestigious ABC (Australia) “Sing” books, and he co-wrote the successful children’s musical “The Funky Zoo” which ran for several years in Sydney. In 2013 he was a winner in the 2013 'Scala Foom' song competition and is, with artist STEVE CHEERS, co-writer of the top 20 country hit 'Roger That'. Phil has, over the years, written and released a number of albums including more recently the instrumental albums 'Distant Fictions' and 'The Setting Sun' by PAV STUDIOS.
Phil is experienced in many different styles from Bach to the Beastie Boys and beyond. As well as rock and country bands, Phil has much experience in orchestra pits including being Musical Director for ‘LADIES IN BLACK’ and ‘JOSEPH AND HIS AMAZING TECHNICOLOUR DREAMCOAT’ with the Highlands Theatre Group. Phil also holds down the string bass chair with the Southern Highlands Concert Band and the Southern Highlands Big Band.
