SAM McERLANE - PIANO

Sam is currently a student at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and an aspiring composer - music is very much the focus of his life. He is an alumni of Powerpoint, having learnt saxophone, guitar and piano here. He is also proficient in French horn and is currently a violin student of world-renowned violinist Myee Clohessy. His original compositions have been played by Myee at the conservatorium and by local artists such a Lauren Bishop.

Sam enjoys teaching beginner piano players, believing that knowing how to communicate and share your ideas (not just musical ones) is vitally important. He is also keen to inspire beginner composers, and teaches musical theory and composition. He strives to keep music fun and all lessons are firmly grounded in what the student wants to achieve. Having lived most of his childhood in Singapore and London before moving to the highlands 10 years ago, he is also very culturally flexible.

Away from music, Sam enjoys spending time with his family and reading.
